Description:At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our outstanding men and women are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills and experiences to craft, design and build solutions to some of the worlds’ hardest engineering problems.
Do you have a desire to get humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars? NASA has developed a vision for exploration that includes the development of a Human Landing System (HLS) in the next 5 years. The nation received a White House mandate to place humans back on the surface of the Moon by 2024. Lockheed Martin Space is onboard to join this historic event and is looking to build a core team of highly
motivated engineers prepared to be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a rare opportunity for you to help NASA meet the challenges of the first step in achieving that “long-term presence at the Moon” and the stepping point for human missions to Mars.
The Human Landing System (HLS) Safety & Mission Assurance organization is looking for a System Safety Engineer to join our team. In this position you will play a meaningful role in the safe design, test, operation and certification of the HLS.
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with NASA and a national industry team to: develop hazard analysis reports, present at NASA Safety Review Boards, participate in safety working groups and engineering design reviews, and tailor, flow down, and verify compliance with safety requirements.
Our ideal candidate is someone with prior experience on NASA human space flight programs or other complex aerospace systems.
– Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field.
– Experience in system safety engineering or related discipline.
– Master’s degree in an engineering or related field.
– Prior experience on NASA human space flight programs.
– Familiarity with NASA human-rating, USAF Range Safety and/or NASA Payload Safety requirements.
