Job Summary ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: IT OperationsEngineers coordinate the integration, deployment, sustainment,maintenance, and operations of systems and/or services in the hostenterprise architecture and NGA.

They provide IT support for GEOINToperations and are accountable for the overall success ofintegration projects, ensuring alignment with Agency priorities andbusiness strategies (e.g., strategic plans, life-cycle managementplans, investment plans).

They oversee and monitor thedocumentation, validation, accreditation, and authorizationprocesses necessary to ensure that new information technologysystems meet information assurance and security requirementsprescribed by NGA and/or mission partners.

Additional JobInformation ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position resides withinthe Secure Operations Group (TO), Service Performance Office (TOP),External Support Division (TOPE).

TOPE ensures high level NationalSystem for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) operations availability atexternal sites by providing a focal point for NGA externallyassigned customers and NSG partners on IT operational concerns.

NGATechnical Executives (TXs) embedded with the NGA Support Team (NGA)and are liaisons for all GEOINT technical items for the CombatantCommands (COCOMs), Components, and Coalition.

This includesRequirements, Engagement, Architecture, Engineering, ProjectManagement, Operations, Training, Communications, ContractorOversight, Cyber Security, Test, Feasibility, and Process.

TheUnited States Space Command (USSPACECOM) NST TX provides on-siteembedded intelligence support to the Combatant Command (CCMD) byserving as the TX (deputy IT support lead) supporting theUSSPACECOM NST sites located within the Western region.

The TXengages with external agencies to include USSPACECOM J2, J3, andJ6, USAF and USSF communications/cyber units, other Department ofDefense (DoD) entities, State Department, and IntelligenceCommunity (IC) mission partners.

First-hand knowledge of ourmission partner’s GEOINT missions and processes and routineengagement with their planners and customers is critical tounderstanding their needs and requirements.

The USSPACECOM NST TXcoordinates with all applicable agencies and partners to ensureGEOINT technical capabilities are delivered, operate, and areavailable to users ensuring they have the IT related resources tosuccessfully conduct their CCMD and National Intelligence missions.Duties include: * Lead IT operational oversight and management ofUSSPACECOM NST including all coordination with non-NGA IT providers* Ensure day-to-day on-site IT operations and sustainment (O&S)activities associated with NSG GEOINT IT equipment and supportingarchitectures.

* Manage and maintain the integrity of theenterprise GEOINT IT architecture * Oversight and direction of siteIT sustainment contractors and data management contractors * Focalpoint for GEOINT system and related technical issues * Coordinationof planned IT outages and mitigation of unplanned IT outage impacts* Establish and maintain working relationships with host site ITservice providers (DIA, DISA, Air Force and Command J2/6 staffs) *Provide in-depth and unique knowledge of GEOINT on-sitearchitecture(s) and supporting infrastructure.

* Coordinate betweenhost site infrastructure providers and NGA Program ManagementOffices (PMO) to implement/integrate new IT systems/servicecapabilities (DTE, ITEMS, Cyber, local IT) into existing sitearchitecture(s) * Assist in the planning, decommissioning, anddisposal of legacy IT * Making decisions that impact the ITresources (people, budget, and material) * Travel: Positionrequires CONUS travel/TDY * Tour Length: The tour length for thisposition is 2 to 6 years.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from anaccredited college or university in Computer Science, ComputerSystems Engineering, Information Science, Information SystemsManagement, Engineering, Engineering Management, Mathematics,Operations Research, Statistics, Technology Management, or degreethat provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of thefields identified above and required the development or adaptationof applications, systems, or networks.


Combination ofEducation and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter)hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experiencein IT operations, system engineering, system testing andevaluation, IT project management, or a related area thatdemonstrates the ability to successfully perform the dutiesassociated with this work.

As a rule, every 30 semester (45quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year ofexperience.

Candidates should show that their combination ofeducation and experience totals 4 years.


Experience: Aminimum of 4 years of experience in IT operations, systemengineering, system testing and evaluation, IT project management,or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfullyperform the duties associated with this work.

New Acquisition Workforce members orcurrent members transitioning to a new acquisition career field orhigher skill level have 24 months to achieve certification.

AND-Relevant Competencies: IT-related experience demonstrating each ofthe four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, OralCommunication, and Problem Solving.

Highly Desired QualificationsQUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatoryqualifications, experience in the following is desired: * 1.Demonstrate 3 years of knowledge of IT and information systems in aDoD environment (preferably USAF/USSF).

* Demonstrate 3 years ofexperience analyzing and identifying potential opportunities forimprovement and follows through with the implementation of thoseimprovements.

* Demonstrate 3 years of experience examining avariety of perspectives to develop a well-rounded view of thesituation before taking action.

* Demonstrate 3 years of experienceto work independently and in coordination with others, managemultiple priorities, demonstrates initiative, and display goodjudgment.

Additional Job Requirements You must be able to obtainand retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to SensitiveCompartmented Information.

In addition, you are subject to aCounterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintainaccess to Top Secret information.

All employees are subject to aperiodic examination on a random basis in order to determinecontinued eligibility.

Refusal to take the examination may resultin denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/orunescorted access to SCIFs.
