Project Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer working on satellite systems to join our team located in Centennial, CO.

Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may provide direction to less experienced professional staff.


  • Ensures that program technical resource needs are defined and met by working with the functional organizations to identify and secure appropriate staffing
  • Evaluates the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment; and ensures that appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed.
  • Organization of all engineering work to support the project integrated master schedule (IMS) and budget per the project management Plan (PMP)
    • Assist in the management and execution of the IMS.
    • Provide day-to-day prioritization of tasks as planned engineering schedule
    • Work with PM/scheduler to update engineering manpower estimation
    • Be accountable for Engineering tasks budget, schedule and technical performance.
  • Coordinate program risk management generation, assessment, tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in program schedules and be a resource for a cross-functional engineering team while performing risk and opportunity management.
  • Monitors System Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and Test and Operation Readiness reviews to ensure entrance and exit criteria are followed.
  • Supports development of interface control documents, software requirement specifications, performance specifications, and review test plans/procedures.
  • Supports the integration, verification, validation and documentation of requirements through the system development cycle.
  • Communicates with engineering professionals, solution users, and management throughout the solution development cycle, and represents the company as a prime technical contact on contracts and/or projects.
  • Leads support for proposals/white papers, and interfaces with customers as well as providing formal documentation to make technical presentations as required. .
  • Supports technical leadership on product design, development and improvement projects in concert with Program Management.
  • Works with functional engineering leads to develop Basis of Estimates for engineering support to projects.
  • Presents engineering work products in periodic reviews to senior staff and customers.
  • Formulates plans, typically long-term, for solution(s) development, documentation, and deployment, as well as meeting various compliance, reporting, and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
